A Victory for Ramón Ferrer and His Family
Levante UD secured a heartfelt victory at the Ciutat de València Stadium in an emotional match dedicated to the late season-ticket holder Ramón Ferrer and his family, who tragically lost their lives in the Campanar neighborhood fire. Players and fans alike knew that this was no ordinary game, and with more determination than ever, they united to ensure that the three points stayed at home with a special dedication.
The Granotas started the game with the sole intention of taking the lead. They took the initiative and created opportunities. First, with a cross from Iván that Fabrício couldn't quite convert. The ball fell to Carlos Álvarez, who sent it high. Then, a good play by Roger Brugué on the left ended with a shot from outside the area that went wide. Later, a combination between Roger Brugué and Fabrício had fans on their feet as Iván Romero headed the ball. The ball hit the post and, after Yáñez touched it, hit the crossbar. Levante UD kept trying, but the goal eluded them. On the other hand, Sporting tried with a shot from Hassan inside the area that Andrés Fernández cleared.
As the first half approached its end, Gijón's team had more possession, but the score remained unchanged, and both teams headed to the dressing rooms with the initial result.
In the second half, Maras made his debut, replacing Postigo, and shortly after, Fabrício nearly scored with a solo effort. Facing the goalkeeper, his shot went just wide of the right post. The striker tried again with a similar play, and the ball narrowly missed again. The persistence paid off, and it wasn't Fabrício but Álex Muñoz who put Levante UD 1-0 ahead, also scoring his first goal with the Levante UD jersey in the league. The goal came after a corner executed by Pablo Martínez. Dela headed the ball, and Álex Muñoz arrived at the far post to send it into the net. Fabrício could have made it two. Once again, he escaped the defense, faced the goal, and his shot was blocked by Yáñez.
Levante UD felt comfortable and wanted more. Iván Romero and Fabrício came close to scoring in the same play, but the rebound fell to Andrés García, who tried from outside the area, and the ball grazed the crossbar. Roger Brugué also had a chance to increase the lead after a poor clearance from Yáñez, but the No. 7's shot narrowly missed.
With the referee's final whistle, the 1-0 scoreline adorned the scoreboard, allowing the Levante UD team and its fans to dedicate the coveted victory to Ramón Ferrer and his family.
