Álex Primo smiles again on the field alongside his teammates after months of effort, patience, and hard work behind the scenes. The goalkeeper, trained in the Granota Academy, has overcome the various stages of a recovery that has not been easy but has allowed him to appreciate even more what he enjoys so much: training, sharing daily life with the team, and feeling like a footballer. After his surgery on May 14, the goalkeeper is now training with the group and faces a new stage with enthusiasm, leaving behind a path full of sacrifice and learning.

On April 26, during the final phase of training, Álex Primo suffered a dislocation in his right shoulder with a labrum injury that required surgery on May 14. Since then, the goalkeeper has worked tirelessly to advance in his recovery, overcoming each phase until reaching the most anticipated one: returning to train with his teammates.

After his return to collective training, the goalkeeper shares his initial feelings. “At first, it was a bit strange, but little by little I’ve been adapting. Very good, very positive feelings and I was really looking forward to this day,” he acknowledges. During these months, one of the things he missed the most was sharing daily life with the team, but also experiencing competition from the inside. “I’m someone who lives the matches intensely and I can’t wait for the weekend to come so I can help in whatever is needed. That’s something I really missed,” he explains.

The journey to return to normal training has not been easy. As with any recovery process, there have been ups and downs, better days, and more challenging ones, both physically and mentally. “It’s been tough, both mentally and physically because, in the end, in an athlete’s daily life, you have discomforts, and different thoughts cross your mind,” Primo admits.

The most difficult moment came almost immediately after the injury, when he felt something was wrong with his shoulder, and it lasted until he learned he would need surgery. “The first five seconds, once I made that bad move and felt my shoulder pop out, and when they told me surgery was necessary. That first week was the worst,” he recalls.

A challenging start that, however, he was able to face with the support of the people who were by his side throughout the process. Family, friends, the coaching staff, medical services, physiotherapists, rehabilitation specialists, and his teammates were fundamental in making the road to recovery more bearable. “I want to thank, above all, my family and friends, the technical staff who were very attentive to me, the doctors, all the physios, rehabilitation specialists, and my teammates, who made my daily life very, very easy. Thanks to all those people who, from the very first moment after surgery, were supporting me and by my side,” he says.

After overcoming the most challenging moments, Álex Primo returns with a different perspective and more eagerness than ever to enjoy his profession. The injury has reminded him of the importance of being able to train normally, share daily work with the group, and be available to help when the team needs him. “When you’re well, when you’re training daily, we don’t appreciate what it means to be physically well and to be with the group. I’m very happy to be back and to help in whatever is needed,” he concludes.

Now, with the hardest part of the recovery behind him and his smile back in training, Álex Primo faces this new stage with enthusiasm.
