Anna Álvarez will aim for the double this year after being called up by the Spanish national team for the U-20 World Cup in Poland, which will take place from September 5 to 27, an event she arrives at after being crowned recent U-19 European champion.
The Levante goalkeeper will report next Thursday, August 27, in Las Rozas, where the 20 selected players completed their first training sessions. After this initial meeting, the team will depart on Sunday, August 30, for Katowice, the city that will serve as the official base for the team during the first phase of the championship. On August 31, they will play a friendly match against Canada to prepare for their World Cup debut.
The Spanish team, placed in Group F, will make its U-20 World Cup debut on Monday, September 7, against Nigeria. Three days later, on Thursday, September 10, they will face New Caledonia and will close the group stage against the People's Republic of China on Sunday, September 13. The team's matches will be available to watch on RTVE Play.
In the last edition held in Colombia, the ‘Rojita’ was eliminated in the quarterfinals by Japan. Two years later, Spain will seek to redeem itself from that setback and reclaim the title won in Costa Rica in 2022.
