The Levante UD midfielder opened his scoring account as a Granota in A Coruña.
Dani Requena was one of the protagonists of the draw achieved by Levante UD last Friday against RC Deportivo. The Granota player, who scored his first goal wearing the Levante jersey, allowed the team to equalize the score in the final moments of the match and secure a point at Abanca Riazor.
The midfielder acknowledges that the team aimed to take the victory but also values the point earned: “We would have liked to get the win there, but we know it’s a tough field, so with the draw, we leave happy but not completely satisfied.”
On a personal level, Requena experienced a special moment by scoring his first goal. After receiving the pass from Ratkov, the player knew he had to act quickly. “When the ball comes to me, I think about hitting it as quickly as I can because I knew I didn’t have much time in the box. I also thought the goalkeeper couldn’t see the ball very well, so it would be hard to stop. When the ball went in, I felt a lot of emotion,” he explains.
The goal also had a special meaning because of the dedication, which originated from an anecdote shared with his friends. “One day with my friends in the village, we thought about doing one, and we came up with that, and since then, I always do it. I think about them a lot when I score,” he reveals.
Beyond the joy of scoring his first goal, Requena emphasizes the collective effort and the importance of earning a point in A Coruña. “It’s always special, but the most important thing is that we managed to get a point from a tough field, and that’s what we take away in the end. I scored the goal, but the work is from the whole team,” he highlights.
That ability to keep fighting until the end is one of the hallmarks of the Levante team. The midfielder points out that this mentality is present in the locker room and recalls how important it was during last season: “From the moment I arrived, they told me what it was like here, especially at home. The team never gives up, and last year we stayed in Primera because of that.”
Now, Levante UD is already looking ahead to their next match, which will take place this Wednesday at the Ciutat de València against Athletic Club. A match for which the team is eager to feel the support of the fans again. “We are really looking forward to being with our people again because when we play at home, we feel like we are one more. Hopefully, it will be a good game, and we can take all three points.”
