The three Levante players make their mark on the international stage with their respective national teams
Three footballers from Levante UD Femenino have represented their countries during this international break: Anna Álvarez, with the Spanish U-19 team; Alma Velasco, with Argentina; and Dolores Silva, with Portugal.
Dolores Silva
The Portuguese midfielder has advanced with her national team through the first round of the playoffs for the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup, after defeating Northern Ireland in both the first and second legs.
In Larne, the dominance of the team led by Francisco Neto was reflected on the scoreboard, with a resounding 0-4 victory, in a match where Dolores Silva played in the final minutes. Just four days later, on Portuguese soil, the Levante player not only started the match but also wore the captain's armband. Although Northern Ireland took the lead, Portugal managed to respond and turn the game around to secure a final 2-1 victory.
With both wins, the Portuguese team keeps their dream of participating in their second World Cup alive. To achieve this, they must overcome Iceland in the second round of the playoffs.
Alma Velasco
The Levante footballer was once again called up to the Argentina senior national team, with which she faced two friendly matches against Brazil, the host of the upcoming FIFA Women's World Cup 2027.
In the first match, held in Porto Alegre, the Albiceleste fell 3-1 to the Brazilian team. Argentina had another opportunity to face the Canarinha in the second friendly, held in Recife, which ended in a 2-2 draw.
Anna Álvarez
The Levante goalkeeper participated in the first of two friendly matches of the Spanish U-19 national team against Sweden. An error in the Spanish combination allowed the visiting team to take the lead, but Spain reacted and managed to turn the score around before halftime. In the second half, the national team sealed the match (3-1).
In the second match, with the aim of distributing playing time among all the players, the Spanish coach chose to give the starting position to the other goalkeeper. The match ended with a resounding Spanish victory of 5-1.
Additionally, Anna Álvarez attended a training session on integrity in sports, aimed at informing players about the risks and consequences of sports betting and match-fixing in games.
