Levante UD keeps going against RCD Espanyol
Levante UD 1-1 RCD Espanyol
Levante UD added another point to their tally after drawing against one of the top teams in the standings, RCD Espanyol, at a Ciutat de València stadium with more than 20,500 spectators. The visitors took the lead with a goal from Carlos Romero, but the Levante players responded immediately with another fine goal from Iker Losada.
The granota team started with intensity and, during the first minutes, sought the opposing goal with several dangerous approaches. Kareem Tunde and Iker Losada were the first to bring danger to the rival area. Dmitrovic blocked the shot from the former, and Iker's long-range shot went just wide. The visitors tried to respond with individual actions from Kike García, but they encountered a well-positioned Levante UD that thwarted any attempt at danger. As the minutes passed, the intensity of the game decreased, but the Levante players maintained possession of the ball. Neither team managed to reach the opposing area with danger, and the first half ended without clear chances.
After the break, Levante UD returned to the pitch with the same intensity as at the start of the match, looking for a goal. However, it was RCD Espanyol who opened the scoring through Carlos Romero, who capitalized on a rebound in the area after Jofre's shot and sent the ball into the top corner with a left-footed strike.
Luís Castro's team quickly recovered and, just two minutes later, scored the equalizer. Dela took a free kick near the halfway line, sent the ball behind the central defenders, and Iker Losada was alert to take possession, control it, and send it into the back of the net. The same Iker had a chance for a second goal shortly after, but his header went wide. Neither team was satisfied with the draw and pushed for more, but the match ended without any changes to the scoreboard.
