Levante UD has to settle for a draw in Mallorca
RCD Mallorca 1-1 Levante UD
Levante UD left Son Moix with the feeling of having lost two points. The Granota team took the lead in the 21st minute thanks to a goal by Etta Eyong, but an unstoppable left-footed shot from Maffeo outside the box, straight into the top corner, made it 1-1. Despite trying until the last breath, the Valencians could not find the precision needed to turn their chances into a winning goal.
The match began with Mallorca determined to take control of the ball. During the first few minutes, they succeeded, although without creating much danger against a well-organized Levante UD defense. The first clear chance came in the 18th minute when Morlanes tried his luck from outside the box, but his shot went wide. Levante's response could not have been more effective. Matías Moreno advanced decisively and combined with Koyalipou. The forward's shot deflected off Matías Moreno and a defender. The ball remained loose in the area, and Etta Eyong, alert, seized the rebound and sent it into the back of the net to put the Valencians ahead. Shortly after, the visitors came close to a second goal following a good play between Koyalipou and Etta Eyong himself, though the final shot went over the bar.
RCD Mallorca tried to respond before halftime with a shot from Sergi Darder that went just wide and a dangerous strike from Mateo Joseph that forced Ryan to make a fine save. With the score at 0-1, the teams headed to the locker rooms.
In the second half, the hosts came out looking for the equalizer. Mateo Joseph tried with a header, but Ryan responded confidently. Levante UD also had their chance to extend the lead with a good cross from Vencedor that Leo Román cleared after Manu Sánchez's header.
And when RCD Mallorca was creating the least danger, the equalizer came. In the 73rd minute, Maffeo surprised with a left-footed shot from outside the box that went into the top corner. The goal spurred Levante UD, who reacted by persistently seeking the winning goal. In the final moments, Morales was close to achieving it in a one-on-one with the goalkeeper, but Leo Román denied him.
The final whistle left a bittersweet feeling for Levante, who tried until the end and had to settle for a draw.
