Levante UD settles for a draw
Levante UD fought, battled, and gave their all to secure victory at the El Sardinero Sports Fields. Despite the chances, shots hitting the posts, and even a disallowed goal, Felipe Miñambres' side had to settle for a draw in a special match for Jorge Cabello, who made his debut with the first team.
The first half started with Levante UD seeking to take control of the game. The Levante players took the initiative, and from the early moments, they approached the opponent's goal. In the very first minute, a dangerous cross from Carlos Álvarez resulted in a header from Pablo Martínez that went wide. Shortly after, Sergio Lozano, following a good combination between Álex Muñoz, Dani Gómez, and the Valencian, sent the ball wide of the net. The midfielder tried again from outside the box, but the ball went off target.
The Granota team had possession and created the most dangerous approaches. The response from the home side came after 15 minutes with a shot from Vicente caught by Andrés Fernández and a chance by Lago Junior in the final minutes that Andrés saved. Levante UD did not give up, seeking the goal and continuing to try. A shot from Dani Gómez was caught by the goalkeeper, who also cleared a shot from Roger Brugué from outside the box and a one-on-one with Dani Gómez minutes later.
After the break, the blue and red team once again took the initiative and created the first chances through Andrés García, who sent the ball high; Dani Gómez, who forced Jokin Ezkieta to intervene to clear the ball for a corner; and Roger Brugué, who hit the ball against the right post of the opponent's goal. As the minutes passed, Real Racing Club reacted to these initial Levante attacks and replied with two shots from Arana. The first of these was cleared by Andrés Fernández with his feet, and the second was deflected by the goalkeeper for a corner. Later, Mboula tried his luck with a shot that went wide. Neither team gave up attacking; both sought the goal that could tip the balance, and Kochorashvili came close to achieving it, but his shot hit the crossbar. Later, Dela also hit the post. The Granota team tried to remain calm to keep trying from a position of tranquility. The ball finally found the net a few minutes before the end of regulation time after Pablo Martínez's shot. However, the referee ended up disallowing the goal for offside, and Levante UD had to settle for one point.
