The Ciutat de València pays tribute to Raimon Ferrer, its gardener for 38 years

Levante UD has prepared a comprehensive and emotional tribute to Raimon Ferrer on the occasion of his retirement after 38 years of taking care of the Ciutat de València pitch.

Minutes before the initial whistle, Raimon came out from the Raconet while the chords of “Esta será mi casa” by Nino Bravo resonated over the loudspeakers. During his walk along the perimeter of the sideline in front of the Tribuna, he was accompanied by around 50 people, including club employees, his colleagues from Royalverd, and beloved figures such as Juan Ignacio Martínez “JIM” and members of the Levante UD Footballers Association, both those residing in Valencia and those who came from outside, including Tomeu Ballester (Mallorca) and Aragó (Barcelona). 

Institutional detail 

When Raimon Ferrer reached the exit of the locker room tunnel, President Pablo Sánchez, along with Honorary President Francisco Fenollosa, presented him with a framed jersey with his name and the year 1988, marking the year Raimon began his journey with the granota club. Shortly after, the squads of Levante UD and CA Osasuna formed a joint guard of honor to welcome the honoree to the center of the field, thus recognizing a lifetime of professional dedication.

Raimon Ferrer performs the ceremonial kickoff

The culmination of this tribute came with the ceremonial kickoff performed by Raimon himself under the watchful eyes of the fans. For this special moment, the protagonist was escorted by five exceptional patrons: José Morales, Vicente Iborra, Pedro López, Sergio Ballesteros, and Vicente Latorre, who stood by his side while his image was displayed on the video scoreboard. Additionally, the presence of "JIM" on the pitch added greater significance to the event, recalling the qualification for the UEFA Europa League.
