Alma Velasco faces a new challenge in her sports career after being called up by the Argentine National Team for the U-20 World Cup, which will take place from September 5 to 27 in Poland. 

The Levante defender approaches this opportunity with excitement and highlights the privilege of wearing her country's jersey in a competition of this caliber: "For me, representing my national team is a source of pride. Being able to do so in such an important tournament as the World Cup is an opportunity that not all players have, so I am very happy", she stated.

The Albiceleste has been placed in Group A alongside Poland, the tournament host, Mexico, and Benin. Alma anticipates a competitive group stage, although she is confident that Argentina has enough strengths to advance to the knockout rounds. "They won't make things easy for us, but the national team has been doing things very well for a long time", she expressed. Argentina will aim to surpass the round of 16, their best performance to date. A goal that the Levante UD defender sees as achievable: "We have been working for a long time to break that barrier and go beyond the round of 16". 

Before joining the Argentina training camp next Monday, the Levante number ‘4’ will face a friendly match this Saturday against CD Alba Fundación, a game she hopes to finish with positive feelings. "Leaving with a victory would mean doing so with a very good taste in my mouth, and we will fight for it until the end", she confessed. Additionally, she is confident in continuing the style of play shown in the first preseason test despite the loss: "The team had identity and very good moments of play". 

Although she will focus all her efforts on the World Cup in the coming weeks, Alma has assured that she will remain very attentive to her Levante UD teammates: "Of course, I will be supporting my team. Even though I won't be competing with them, I will be keeping an eye on their day-to-day activities, supporting them to the fullest".
