Atlético Levante UD earns a point in a very scrappy match where certain decisions influenced the game.
The reserve team took to the field with the intention of surprising from the very first moment. So much so that, with the initial kick-off, Dani Cervera tried his luck with a long-range shot that went over the crossbar. An exchange of attacks between both teams was soon established in a match marked by interruptions. After a recovery by the team, Aldiyar Nurgali got past an opponent with a self-pass, although he couldn't finish the play and his shot went high. Shortly after, one of the most controversial moments of the first half occurred when Asier de Castro and Jorge de Asís fell inside the opponent's box, with the latter being visibly held, but neither the referee nor his assistants awarded the penalty.
The reserve team struggled to find continuity in their play and made some errors in passing and control, although they also managed to create danger. Manel Usedo, very active throughout the match, passed the ball to Dani Cervera, whose shot was met with a save by the goalkeeper. The rebound fell to Manel, who tried again but without success. Meanwhile, the home team also sought to approach the goal defended by Joao Lecce, who responded confidently when called upon, especially during a corner kick where he punched the ball away. In defense, Borja Cortina also made a key intervention by sliding in to prevent a local shot from finding the net.
After the break, the script barely changed, and interruptions continued to dominate. Javi Alonso, very involved in attack, tried a shot that was too wide, while Manel showcased a great individual play by getting past his marker and dribbling at the edge of the box, though his shot went just wide of the post. Alejandro Moya also came close to putting the team ahead with a long-range effort that hit the crossbar. In the final moments, Atzeneta UE had a chance to decide the match, but the Levante goalkeeper once again intervened confidently. The response came through Javi Alonso, who, after a good combination down the right wing, connected a shot that the goalkeeper saved without difficulty. In one of the last actions, Aitor Manzanedo received a second yellow card and was sent off, meaning he will miss the next match.
Atlético Levante UD will return to competition on Sunday, November 15, when they host CD Eldense at the Buñol Sports City at 11:30 a.m.
