Levante UD has opened their points tally against Real Betis Balompié in a match where Julián Calero's team took a two-goal lead, but their opponent reduced the deficit in stoppage time of the first half and ended up equalizing with ten minutes left in regulation time. Therefore, a point that feels like little for the "granota" team, who came close to victory.

The Levante players came out very focused and, from the very first moments, put their opponent in trouble. Iván Romero led the first dangerous approach for the home team and, seconds later, put his team ahead on the scoreboard after receiving an assist from Carlos Álvarez behind the defenders. The forward finished perfectly and made it 1-0 on the scoreboard. Real Betis responded with a shot off the crossbar by Riquelme, but the "granota" team left no room for doubt and extended their lead. They did so after a good play by Pablo Martínez. Etta Eyong, who debuted as a "granota" today, received the ball, dribbled past the goalkeeper, and sent the ball into the back of the net.

The visitors tried to capitalize on a set piece with a corner kick that S. Altimira sent into the opposing goal. However, the referee disallowed the play for a foul on Iván Romero. The Betis team sought a goal with a header from Bellerín that Ryan deflected with his hand to a corner and another shot from Antony that the "granota" goalkeeper caught without difficulty.

In stoppage time, Real Betis Balompié managed to score with a powerful shot from Cucho from outside the box, and the teams headed to the locker rooms with a 2-1 scoreline.

After the restart, the Betis team sought the equalizer from the first moments with a shot from Antony that Ryan punched away. The game was interrupted several times due to some physical discomfort among the Levante players and the substitutions of the affected players. A few minutes after coming on, a good play by Morales on the left brought danger to the opposing area. He crossed it to Roger Brugué, but the forward couldn't control it properly. Meanwhile, the visitors tried their luck with a header from Valentín Gómez that Ryan caught. The "azulgranas" resisted their opponent's attacks, but in the 80th minute, a header from Pablo Fornals, following a cross from Abde Ezzalzouli, became the equalizing goal.

In the final moments of the match, Levante UD tried through Roger Brugué with a shot from the forward, after an assist from Morales, which the goalkeeper saved, and another shot from the forward that went slightly wide.

Finally, the Levante players were left with a bittersweet feeling and opened their points tally with a draw.
