Matías Moreno was able to play his first match as a starter yesterday at the Ciutat de València Stadium in a game where the defender regrets not being able to secure the victory after the lead obtained in the first half.

The center-back, who had to be substituted due to physical discomfort, wanted to reassure the fans about his condition. “Yesterday I had a cramp, my hamstring tightened up a bit, but nothing serious. Today I was able to train normally,” he clarified.

The Argentine player stated that he finished the match “with a bittersweet feeling” for not being able to secure the victory against Real Betis Balompié, but he remains optimistic. “Being 2-0 up, we couldn’t take the three points, but we have to look at the positives. After the bad streak we were on, we managed to break it and take a point. I think from now on there will be more positive things and more points obtained,” he noted. Matías Moreno highlighted the team’s confidence in the work done to take the lead on two occasions and against important teams: “We have no doubt that, against any team, we can do well. We have to stay calm. We managed to score two goals in both matches –FC Barcelona and Real Betis Balompié– which, at first, seemed difficult. We need to improve in defense so that we don’t concede so many goals, and I think we’re going to improve a lot.”

The defender had the opportunity to make his home debut as a starter yesterday, in front of his fans, and he acknowledges that it was very special. “I enjoyed it a lot. The atmosphere at the Ciutat was beautiful, and the fans were incredible. I’m very happy.”

The team is already working with Saturday’s match against Girona FC in mind, and Matías couldn’t hide his eagerness for the next game. “I want the match to come already. We want to play again, take all three points, and start a good streak. Getting on a streak will do us all a lot of good, for the group and for the week.”
