Levante UD secures a point at the RCDE Stadium
RCD Espanyol 0-0 Levante UD
Levante UD secured a point from their visit to the RCDE Stadium in a match where the team had the clearest chance of the first half and came close to scoring in the final moments.
The "granota" team was the first to trouble the opposing goalkeeper. It happened five minutes in after a good combination between Pablo Martínez, Paco Cortés, and Víctor García. Dmitrovic reached out to deflect the powerful shot from the Valencian player to a corner. Levante UD began to control the ball more and sought the opposing goal but failed to create clear chances.
As the minutes passed, RCD Espanyol advanced further up the field and, in the final stretch, approached Ryan's goal more frequently. They tried from set pieces, especially through corner kicks, but time ran out, and the first half ended with the initial scoreline.
After the restart, both teams fought to gain possession of the ball and showed signs of wanting to break the deadlock. A long ball from Dmitrovic to Pere Milla allowed the '11' to find himself one-on-one with Ryan, but his shot was easily saved by the goalkeeper. Both teams struggled to create dangerous opportunities, and the minutes ticked by without either goalkeeper being forced into action.
Everything changed in the final phase of the match. Pol Lozano received a second yellow card in the 88th minute, leaving RCD Espanyol with a numerical disadvantage. Levante UD pushed for a goal until the very last moment and came close to scoring through Etta Eyong and with a shot from Carlos Álvarez that hit the crossbar.
The score remained unchanged, and Luís Castro's team ended up adding a point to their tally, bringing them closer to the safety zone.
