Iván Romero reached, this past Sunday in the match against Real Sociedad, one hundred official matches with Levante UD. The forward, who is in his fourth season with the club and is one of the team's four captains, reaches this milestone after experiencing moments of joy, challenging periods, and experiences that have shaped his growth both on and off the field.

“Reaching one hundred matches is a source of pride for me and my family, and I hope there will be many more,” he acknowledges. Four seasons provide plenty of experiences, and during this time, Iván Romero has shared unforgettable moments with his teammates, the coaching staff, the club's workers, and the fans. He has also had to overcome difficulties, especially due to injuries that prevented him from enjoying his early days as a Levante player. For this reason, the affection received from the stands holds special meaning for him. “This is my home. I feel very loved by the fans, and that makes me feel very comfortable here at the club,” he explains.

Iván Romero's signing happened quickly. The player was in Seville with his father when the opportunity to join the granota team arose. Without much hesitation, they organized the move and set off for Valencia with all their belongings. “We packed two cars with everything I had in Seville and headed to Valencia. I remember it was a Friday, and it was their first away game of the league. I remember arriving with my family, my parents, and the next day training with the team. It was the first day I saw them. Those moments are very fresh in my mind because I remember how everything happened—it was a bit quick, and I was eager to arrive and get to know the facilities and the whole club. I remember it as if it were yesterday,” he confesses.

Since then, the forward has accumulated experiences that have helped him evolve. “You mature as a person and as a player. It's been many matches and four seasons that I've been here. Many teammates come and go, you have many experiences, and you always try to take the best from each one, learn, and contribute your bit in every aspect,” he notes.

That growth has also been accompanied by greater responsibility in the locker room. This season, Iván Romero is part of the group of four team captains, a role he takes on with ease and commitment. “I've always said that I'm here to help the team with whatever is needed. I'm happy that they count on me for anything, both on and off the field. I take on that responsibility and help the team in every way I can,” he assures.

Among the memories he cherishes from his time as a Levante player, Iván Romero highlights two very special goals: one scored against Real Betis and another against FC Barcelona, both in La Liga. These two goals hold added value as they were his first in the top division. However, one moment holds a special place in his memory: Levante UD's promotion to La Liga. He had to watch that match from the bench due to an injury, but that didn’t stop him from feeling the excitement of a day he still remembers with a smile. “I didn’t play because I was injured, but the match in Burgos, which was the promotion to La Liga, is something we all remember with great joy and pride for everyone’s effort throughout the year. I remember being on the bench, injured, and running out as if nothing was wrong. It’s a unique moment I will never forget,” he says.

When asked about the match he would have most liked to play, he doesn’t hesitate to point to that decisive game. “I did everything I could to try to be ready and help the team in any way I could. The only thing I could do was be there supporting from the sidelines because I didn’t want to be in the stands. I would give anything to play that match again,” he admits.

Upon reaching 100 matches, Iván Romero also keeps in mind the Levante fans who have supported him since his arrival. The injuries he suffered early in his time with the granotas were a difficult period, but the support he received from the fans helped him get through those moments. “When I arrived, I had a couple of injuries that prevented me from giving my best. I was injured for a long time, and those were tough times when the fans sent me a lot of messages of support, telling me to stay calm, that I would get back to doing what I loved and that I would do it well. Now, looking back at those one hundred matches and four seasons, I only have words of gratitude for everyone who has been there with me,” he emphasizes.

The forward concludes with a message that sums up his commitment to the club and its fans: “They know I will keep giving my all until the very last day.”
