Levante UD accepts and understands the schedule change made by LALIGA for this Saturday
AEMET activates the red alert for temperatures that could exceed 40 degrees.
For Levante UD, the safety of people comes first, which is why it has shown its full understanding and support for Deportivo Alavés' request to modify the schedule of this Saturday's match, motivated by the intense heatwave affecting the Basque Country this week, and accepts the change made by LALIGA.
The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has issued a red alert for temperatures that could exceed 40 degrees, especially in inland areas, a situation that necessitates taking extreme precautions.
The granota club fully understands and shares the decision, which aims to prioritize the health and well-being of everyone involved: players, technical teams, organizational staff, and fans. “We can never oppose measures that protect people,” they state from the entity.
Although, logically, the team's travel plan was already organized and finalized, Levante UD will try to adapt it to fit the new schedule, as today at 4:00 PM, LALIGA's Competitions Department officially notified Levante UD that the "DEPORTIVO ALAVÉS - LEVANTE U.D. will be played on Saturday, August 16, at 9:30 PM instead of the previously communicated 5:00 PM."
“People and their safety come first. Football must always serve those who live it and make it possible,” they emphasize from the club.
