Levante UD have exercised their, strategically held, option to purchase Erik Cabaco, committing him as a key Levante UD centre-back defender for, at least, the next four seasons, until the year 2022.

Erik Cathriel Cabaco (19/April/1995, Montevideo, Uruguay) came to Levante UD last summer on loan, with a negotiated purchase option, from Montevideo’s Club Nacional de Football (founded 1899). As mutually agreed by all interested in this positive outcome, the signing of this reinforcement centre-back becomes Levante’s first defensive building block for the upcoming season.

The Uruguayan central has played a total of 14 matches, his presence becoming ever more solid when Paco López arrived and got the ball rolling, during the last stretch of the 17/18 season, quickly making Cabaco a steady in the starting line-up.Strategic destiny locked in place, the central defender earned his place as one of the key players that kept Levante UD from relegation; now a historic episode of the perfect comeback performance of the Granota hit squad resolving the vital goal of keeping Levante UD unrelegated, and in 1st division, where they belong!

Cabaco, chiseled from Club Atlético Rentistas’ cantera (youth football academy) debuted with their first team in 1st Division (Uruguay) in 2013. In January of 2016, he joined Club Nacional de Football with whom he played the Closing Championship (Torneo Clausura) and Liberators of the Americas Cup (Copa Libertadores). In August of that same year, he was transferred to AS Nancy-Lorraine, to play in Ligue 1, the first division league of France. Now, Granota Strong until at least 2022!
