Levante UD Femenino could not find a way to implement their game plan against an Alhama CF ElPozo that grew strong at home and imposed their style of play. Despite setting the pace in the opening minutes, the "granota" team did not have their day. Neither in attack, as the home team managed to neutralize their advances, nor in defense. The crosses coming from the right flank, first from Dana and later from Ari Arias, were the first attempts by a Levante UD that tried from the first whistle but saw their efforts come to nothing.
As the game progressed, Alhama CF began to feel comfortable with the ball, forcing the "granota" team to create counterattacks. The goal that Sanadri sought was found by the Alhama team in the 20th minute: Coronado failed to clear the ball properly, and the rebound fell to Oriana, who did not miss. Levante UD's response, though fruitless, came from the left wing with a great individual play by Carol. Just a few minutes later, the home team struck again. In a set-piece action, Oriana extended the lead from the near post. The first forty-five minutes ended with Javi Aguado's players trying to close the gap on the scoreboard.
As the first half ended, the second half began. Levante UD had a clear chance with a header from Bascu that was easily saved by the goalkeeper of the Murcian team. The visitors missed their chance, but Alhama CF did not. Once again, a defensive error doomed the "granota" team and allowed the Murcian side to score the third goal. Ari Arias tried to give her team a consolation goal, but her attempt first grazed the crossbar, and later another shot was deflected by Chelsea. In the final minutes, bad luck struck the "granota" team again, with an own goal by Gabaldón that allowed Alhama CF to definitively seal the match.
Levante UD's next match will be on Sunday, September 20, against CP Cacereño at 12:00 PM at the Buñol Sports City.
