The Historical Heritage Area of Levante UD resumes guided tours next Saturday, September 26, to the space that for more than four decades was occupied by the Vallejo field. The Vallejo Tour will begin at 11:30 a.m. and will meet at the façade of l’Estació Pont de Fusta facing Almazora Street.

The activity revives a program of visits that throughout 2026 has allowed people to explore one of the key locations for understanding the history of Valencian football. The return of the tour also takes place in a very special year: the centenary of Vallejo's inauguration, which opened its doors in November 1925 and stood until May 1968.

Evoking the structure of a coliseum

During the tour, participants will be able to evoke the structure of that venue and learn about some of the main spaces and routes that were part of its history. It is an exercise in memory to recover the dimension of a stadium that was much more than a playing field and that for decades served as one of the great coliseums of Valencian football.

Vallejo was inaugurated by Gimnástico FC, and within its walls, one of the decisive episodes in the history of the current Levante UD took place: the merger between Gimnástico FC and Levante FC. The venue later hosted the newly formed Unión Deportiva Levante Gimnástico (UDLG), and from 1941, it became the stage for the great football battles of Levante UD.

The Vallejo Tour will thus allow participants to revisit the memory of a field that directly witnessed different eras, clubs, generations of players, and fans, and that remains closely tied to the origins and evolution of the current Levante UD.

A calendar to recover memory

The visit on September 26 will be the first of the activities scheduled by the Historical Heritage Area for the final stretch of 2026. The programming will continue in October with a new initiative linked to the project of recovering the memory of Vallejo: the Portal of Vallejo.

The formalization of the Portal of Vallejo, which will feature the presence of players who played on the historic field, is scheduled for after the festivities of October 9 and 12. The final date is still pending coordination and confirmation with the Federation of Football of the Valencian Community.

The 2026 heritage calendar will conclude on Saturday, November 14, with the Gimnástico Tour, a route dedicated to recovering the history of one of the fundamental entities in the origins of the current Levante UD. The tour will start at the birthplace of Amador Sanchis and will allow participants to discover some of the spaces and figures linked to the history of Gimnástico since its founding in 1909.

The focus is already on 2027

The Historical Heritage Area is working on finalizing this calendar, but the focus is already shifting towards 2027. Next year will mark the 90th anniversary of the Free Spain Cup, a trophy that is part of the history of Levante UD and whose historical significance has been progressively recognized.

To commemorate this anniversary, Levante UD is already working on designing a program of activities aimed at highlighting the significance of that competition and asserting the place the Free Spain Cup holds in the club's history.

The journey towards that 90th anniversary will begin with new visits to Vallejo and the recovery of Gimnástico's memory. Learning about the past and historical settings of Levante is an attractive way to keep the granota legacy alive.
