Luís Castro has appeared before the media in the press conference prior to the match that Levante UD will play tomorrow, Sunday, against Villarreal CF.

The Levante coach has described the yellow team as “one of the best teams in LALIGA.” “They haven’t started as people expected, but there’s also a coaching change and a time needed for adaptation,” he explained. Castro believes that Villarreal CF was “very close to their level” in their last match and highlighted both the quality of their squad and that of their coach, noting that “last year he had a very good season with Rayo.”

For all these reasons, the Levante UD coach is aware of the difficulty of the match: “We are going to face one of the best teams, and we have to be very focused to achieve something good for us.”

The suspension of last Wednesday’s match against Athletic Club was another topic addressed during the appearance. The coach also reflected on what happened in some of the matches played this season at the Ciutat de València and expressed his concern about the conditions in which they were held. “Both in the match against Real Betis and the one against FC Barcelona, we had people in the stands who ended up in the hospital. There was an orange alert the day before. The information we had was that at 9 p.m. it would be the most dangerous. We thought it would be suspended earlier, also so that Athletic wouldn’t have to travel. The club has already spoken with the responsible parties to communicate that we don’t want a tragedy to happen here one day,” he explained.

In this regard, the Levante coach has emphasized the need to prioritize the safety of the fans and everyone attending the stadium: “We have played three home games with schedules or alerts that we think are not the best for football, but even worse if we put people’s lives at risk.”
