Pablo Sánchez: "Calero has left a deep mark on the club, on Levante's spirit, and on Valencian football."
The president has explained that, for the moment, there is no open negotiation nor any agreement signed with potential coaches.
The president of Levante UD, Pablo Sánchez, addressed the media after Julián Calero's farewell and answered all their questions. First, Sánchez sincerely expressed "the sadness caused by Julián Calero's departure" because, "throughout this year, Calero has left a deep mark on the club, on Levante's spirit, and on Valencian football."
Sánchez recalled that Calero arrived at a particularly delicate moment and managed to provide the sporting boost the team needed. He thanked him for his work, his commitment, and everything he achieved during his tenure. He also emphasized that the decision was made with pain but with the obligation to prioritize the well-being of Levante UD.
On a personal level, he acknowledged that it was an especially tough decision and is aware of the impact this decision has on his personal plans. Even so, he insisted that his responsibility is to think about the future of the club.
Coaching situation and future coach
The president explained that, for now, there are no open negotiations or signed agreements with potential coaches. He confirmed that Álvaro del Moral and Vicente Iborra will lead the team in the upcoming matches in Cieza and Pamplona.
Regarding the possibility of both remaining in the position later on, Sánchez stated that it is neither an "interim" nor a "definitive" appointment, but rather a phase that will be evaluated progressively. He also emphasized that all the club's professionals have the necessary capacity to face this situation, "just as it happened with the current duo in the sports management, made up of homegrown talent with satisfactory results."
The president confirmed that Levante UD is already working on the winter transfer market "and does not rule out strengthening the team given the current standings."
Meetings with investment funds in London
Following the judicial approval of the restructuring plan presented by Levante UD, Pablo Sánchez announced that José Danvila will travel to London tomorrow along with the club's financial team to meet with several English investment funds. He stated that it is "good news that there are groups interested in investing in Levante UD and that the club has the responsibility to listen to all proposals that may be presented."
