The Levante UD defeated Athletic Club at the Ciutat de València thanks to a brace from Roger Brugué in just two minutes. The "granotas" managed their lead well in a demanding match to secure three valuable points in front of their fans.

The match began with approaches from both teams, although it was Athletic Club that soon took control of the ball. The visitors started to set the pace of the game and gain ground. Ryan was forced to intervene in the eighth minute after the visitors tried their luck through Berenguer with a powerful shot from the edge of the area. The Levante goalkeeper stretched out his hand to deflect the shot to a corner. The Levante response was not long in coming. Manu Sánchez sent a cross into the area that Iván Romero headed towards the goal defended by Unai Simón, who caught the ball without much trouble.

Levante UD began to find ways to approach the rival area and sought their chances. The reward came, and what a way it came! A good combination on the right between Thiago and Toljan allowed the latter to send a cross into the area. After a series of deflections in the area, and after the ball bounced off Requena, who fought for the play until the end, Roger Brugué appeared to send the ball into the back of the net. The goal spurred on Luís Castro's team, who needed just two minutes to strike again. Iván Romero stole the ball and passed it to Thiago, who unleashed a powerful shot from inside the area. Unai Simón managed to deflect it, but the rebound fell to a very alert Roger Brugué, who once again appeared to tap the ball in and score the second goal of the afternoon. In just two minutes, the Levante striker scored a brace, sending the Ciutat de València into a frenzy.

Luís Castro's team wanted more. After the first half-hour, Thiago was once again in the spotlight as he sent in a cross that Toljan headed over the crossbar. In the final moments of the first half, Athletic Club once again hovered around the Valencian area, but the Levante defense held firm.

After the break, Athletic started with intensity, trying to get back into the game quickly. They managed to narrow the gap after converting a penalty awarded by the referee for an accidental play in which Olasagasti and Maroan both went for the ball. Berenguer, from the penalty spot, did not miss. The visitors were reduced to ten men in the 72nd minute after Laporte was shown a red card for stopping a play where Requena was heading towards the goal. The Athletic player committed a foul on the Levante number 6 and was sent off as the last defender.

In the final moments, Athletic Club pressed in search of an equalizer and hovered around the area defended by Ryan, but it was Levante UD who ended up sealing the match. Etta Eyong, making his return from injury, scored the third goal for Levante, once again sparking joy at the Ciutat de València, putting the finishing touch on a highly valuable victory for the Levante team.
