PRESS CONFERENCE | Julián Calero: "It is a game of excitement to return to the Ciutat, compete well, and be in a position to win."
The coach has spoken at the press conference prior to the match against Athletic Club.
Julián Calero has appeared before the media in the press conference prior to the match that Levante UD will play tomorrow, Saturday, against Athletic Club at the Ciutat de València Stadium.
The coach explained that, for him, the match “is a game of excitement, where people need to be excited about competing again at the Ciutat, about wanting to give a good show to their fans, making them feel identified with what we do, competing well and being capable of being in a position to win.” Furthermore, the coach commented that, when you are in the lower part of the standings, “you are aware of the need to win, it is important for the environment, for the people, but putting too much pressure on yourself, creating things that won’t help us, I will never do that.” For this reason, Calero admitted that during the week he wanted to create in the locker room “a state of excitement to achieve a first home victory. The difficulties have been there, we have been close in some cases, but we haven’t achieved it yet. Let’s see if this time we are capable of competing well and being in a position to win.”
Regarding the team they will face tomorrow, Athletic Club, the coach acknowledged that “I think they are an extraordinary opponent, with a style of play that personally resonates with me a lot. With quick attacks, strong defensive capabilities, the ability to break through on the wings, lateral crosses, an extraordinary area defense, they have scored eight goals from set pieces… I think they have a lot of strengths, and I won’t underestimate them at all.” Similarly, Julián Calero also highlighted the work of his players: “My team has to be prepared to know who they are facing and what solutions to look for. We have worked on this throughout the week, and now we just need things to finally go our way one day. That the things that happen during the match are good enough to lead us to victory.”
