Pablo Andújar shares his vision of tennis and his connection with Levante UD in "Conversations Under the Stands"
The Fenollosa Hall hosted a new event yesterday as part of the activities of the Levante UD Business Club.
The Fenollosa Room of Levante UD hosted a new event of the cycle Conversations under the stands yesterday, in which the club, through its Business Club, brings the history of prominent granotes closer, and in this case, the guest was former professional tennis player and director of the Faulcombridge Cup, Pablo Andújar.
Among the audience were the president of Levante UD, Pablo Sánchez, the vice president Braulio Pastor, and the CEO José Danvila. The Director of Communication and External Relations of Levante UD, Puri Naya, was in charge of conversing with Pablo Andújar, who at the end of the event spent a relaxed time with all the attendees.
Andújar, one of the most prominent Spanish tennis players of recent decades and recently retired from the professional circuit, spoke about his most ambitious project at present: the Faulcombridge Cup. The Valencian tournament has reached this year the Challenger 175 category, a level achieved by only six competitions worldwide, thus consolidating its international projection. Andújar highlighted that this achievement represents “a huge boost for Valencia and for consolidating a tournament that aims to grow sustainably, with the ambition of positioning the city as a reference in the world of tennis.”
As a member of the ATP board of directors, Andújar explained how his experience in tournament organization allows him to strengthen the structure and give visibility to the project, ensuring stable development in the medium and long term. He also revealed that the next edition of the tournament will be moved to May, a change that will allow for better planning and attendance by players and the public.
During the interview, Andújar's personal and professional journey was also discussed, recalling his toughest moments as well as his successes in the Davis Cup, his victory against Federer, his participation in the Olympic Games, and his four ATP titles, including the Conde de Godó. “Retirement was an intense process, but I feel fortunate for everything I have experienced and for being able to remain connected to sports from another perspective,” he stated.
Andújar's connection with Levante UD also had a prominent place. From his first steps as a Levante fan at the age of 10 to that honorary kickoff in November 2023, the tennis player shared anecdotes and memories that demonstrate his passion for the club. “I still come to the Ciutat de València whenever my schedule allows, and I experience the matches as any fan would,” he confessed with a smile.
