PRESS CONFERENCE | Julián Calero: "There is excitement and a strong desire to compete and start this new journey"

Julián Calero appeared this afternoon before the media in the press conference prior to the match corresponding to Matchday 1 of LALIGA EA SPORTS, which will take place tomorrow, Saturday, between Levante UD and Deportivo Alavés.

The Levante coach assured that his team is approaching the start of the official competition "with enthusiasm as their banner," being aware of the difficulty of playing in the top division. "There is excitement and a strong desire to compete and begin this new journey. It will be tough for us. We know where we are, where we come from, and the circumstances we are in, but that will not hold us back from knowing how we want to compete and how we must compete to achieve our sole objective, which is to stay in the division," he stated.  

For the Levante coach, it is essential that Levante UD does not lose the identity that last season led them to achieve promotion: "To survive, we don't have to change many things, we have to continue maintaining the style we had. It's about being consistent, changing as little as possible, and seeing to what extent our opponents force us to stop being ourselves. We will try to have a clear identity and not deviate too much from the type of team we wanted to be last year."

Regarding their opponent, Deportivo Alavés, Julián Calero described them as "a very competitive team" and highlighted the atmosphere at Mendizorroza. "There, the fans are extraordinary, they support their team, and it creates a football atmosphere that I love, one that pushes you to play," he said. For all these reasons, the coach expects a "complicated and difficult" match, but he is clear that his team's intention is to "compete with them because we know what our options are and where they lie."
