Levante UD secured victory in the first preseason friendly match against CD Leganés thanks to goals scored by Carlos Espí and Martin Krug at the end of the first and second halves.
The granota team, after starting training on Monday, faced the first match with the goal of beginning to implement the concepts worked on and accumulating minutes in the players' legs.
Luís Castro's team created the dangerous chances of the match. The first came with a recovery by Edgar Alcañiz. Carlos Espí's shot was cleared by former Levante player Raúl Fernández. The azulgranas, debuting their new kit today, took control of the game and sought the goal through the Tavernes de la Valldigna forward and Paco Cortés. The home team had to be patient, and in the final moments of the first half, Carlos Espí opened the scoring. The attacker advanced with the ball, entered the area, and beat the visiting goalkeeper.
After the break, Levante UD almost completely changed their starting eleven, distributing minutes among the players. Víctor García was incisive on the right wing, bringing the ball close to the opposing area, while a good combination between Dani Cervera and Iván Romero could have ended in a goal. The granota number ‘17’ also aimed for the goal with a powerful shot from the edge of the box that grazed the crossbar. However, it was CD Leganés who scored after a pass from Pulido to Rober López, who pushed the ball into the back of the net.
The Levante players did not give up and wanted to reflect the good sensations shown on the pitch in the scoreline. Thus, from a corner kick, Martin Krug appeared at the far post to head the ball and secure the definitive 2-1.
