Levante UD lost by the minimum in the preseason match against Villarreal CF in a game where they had chances to score and continued to build good momentum.

The Levante team had their first big opportunity at 13 minutes. First, with a shot from Mandi that ended in a corner kick, and after the corner taken by Olasagasti, Roger Brugué headed at the far post, and the ball went just wide. The home team responded with a free-kick from Pepe that forced Pablo Cuñat to intervene to deflect the ball. Luis Castro's team remained well-positioned on the pitch and sought the opposing goal with approaches that they could not finish. Under a scorching sun, the blue and garnet team spared no effort, but time passed without either team seriously troubling the opposing goalkeeper.

After the break, the most dangerous chances came from Levante UD. Carlos Álvarez tried his luck directly from a corner kick, and Gulácsi punched it away. Shortly after, Víctor García attempted a powerful shot from outside the box. However, it was Villarreal CF who found the goal in a scrappy play inside the area where, after several rebounds, Costa sent the ball into the back of the net.

Levante's response was immediate. Carlos Álvarez delivered a cross that Tay headed, and the ball rolled in front of the goal before going just past the left post. Minutes later, Carlos Álvarez himself sent another cross, but the defense anticipated Musuayi's shot, who debuted today wearing the Levante jersey.

In the end, Levante UD could not convert their chances into goals and had to settle for the good feelings shown on the pitch.
