Levante UD Femenino continues to gain momentum in preseason after drawing 2-2 against Elche CFF with early goals from Nuria Morell and Gema Soliveres.
The initial whistle was accompanied by a period of adjustment, with fruitless back-and-forths from both teams. After the initial minutes of probing, Levante UD struck first with a cross from the right by Alba Dargel from the end line, which the opposing defense was forced to clear for a corner. While the warning came from the right flank, the first goal on the scoreboard came from the left. Nuria Morell opened the scoring in the 10th minute, breaking past the opposing defense to face the goalkeeper one-on-one and slotting the ball low into the net.
The visitors tried to respond to the Levante goal with a dangerous chance that Yoli Sierra successfully dealt with. But from one end to the other, Alharilla replied to the Elche attempt with a long-range shot after spotting the goalkeeper off her line, though the ball went wide. That was not the case with Gema Soliveres' powerful strike, which resulted in an Olympic goal in the 20th minute of play. With a 2-0 lead, Levante UD continued to create chance after chance but failed to find the back of the net again.
Elche CFF reduced the deficit after the restart with a stunning long-range goal that caught the Levante goalkeeper off guard. Motivated by the goal, the Elche players hovered around the area defended by Laura Coronado, who this time performed perfectly by catching the ball. After that scare, Levante UD reacted by trying to seal the match. Escoms found herself one-on-one with the opposing goalkeeper, but the keeper skillfully blocked the attempt with her feet, leading to a corner where Sara Martínez connected with a dangerous header that missed the target. Ari Arias also tried twice with powerful shots, but it was the visitors who found the net, making it 2-2 after a mistake in ball distribution.
Far from giving up, the Levante team threw everything into the attack to try to secure a victory for the fans who had traveled to Buñol. The final push resulted in three close chances: a header from Sara off a cross by Escoms, a shot by Daniela Hellín after a corner, and a run by Sanadri whose shot hit the goalkeeper directly in the chest.
Levante UD's next friendly match will be away on Saturday, August 29, against Alhama CF.
