Portal de Vallejo commemorates the centenary of the historic Campo de Vallejo
New edition of the Portal at the Ágora Vallejo of the Football Federation of the Valencian Community
Portal de Vallejo celebrates the centenary of the Campo de Vallejo with an event that will take place on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at 7:00 PM, at the Ágora Vallejo in the headquarters of the Football Federation of the Valencian Community, located on part of the historic site of the old stadium.
The talk will be conducted by Emilio Nadal, head of the Historical Heritage Area of Levante UD, and will feature José Ricardo March, journalist, historian, and professor of Language and Literature, focusing on the dissemination and enhancement of the historical and heritage legacy of Vallejo in Valencian football.
Portal de Vallejo dedicates its new edition to commemorate the centenary of the inauguration of the Campo de Vallejo, opened to the public on November 29, 1925, one of the most emblematic spaces of Valencian football. Just a few days after its opening, the Diario de Valencia highlighted that “the Campo de Vallejo is the most spacious in Valencia and one of the best in Spain”, emphasizing the significance of a facility destined to mark an era.
The first match and the first goal
The sporting debut of the Campo de Vallejo took place within the framework of the regional competition, with a match between Gimnástico and Saguntino. That match was etched in memory by one name: Silvino, the scorer of the first goal in the stadium's history. That goal marked the beginning of almost half a century of football in the Vallejo neighborhood.
Forty-three years of history
The Campo de Vallejo stood from 1925 to 1968, becoming an urban, social, and sports landmark in the city of Valencia. The end of the 1967-1968 season marked the definitive epilogue of a stadium that witnessed decisive transformations in local football.
A journey through Valencian football
This edition of Portal de Vallejo offers a historical journey through Valencian football: from Gimnástico and Levante, through the merger, the era of the UDLG (Unión Deportiva Levante-Gimnástico), and the subsequent birth of Levante UD, tracing a line of continuity between the club, the city, and collective memory. Moreover, Vallejo was more than just a football field.
Returning to Vallejo
The event will take place on Wednesday, January 29, 2026, at 7:00 PM, in the Sala Vallejo at the headquarters of the Football Federation of the Valencian Community (Calle Almassora 2-ground floor). This is not a random location: the current federation headquarters occupies part of the geographical space where the Campo de Vallejo once stood, making the gathering a symbolic return to the place where football thrived for decades.
Direction and historical perspective
Portal de Vallejo will be directed by Emilio Nadal, head of the Historical Heritage Area of Levante UD, and José Ricardo March, journalist, historian, and secondary school Language and Literature teacher, who will lead a session focused on the dissemination, memory, and heritage value of Vallejo in the context of Levante and Valencian football.
