Levante UD and the Generalitat sign an agreement to prevent violence against women
The campaign will consist of launching messages on social media aimed at spreading awareness of the resources that the Generalitat has available for victims.
The Levante UD and the Department of Housing, Employment, Youth, and Equality of the Generalitat Valenciana have signed a collaboration agreement to carry out a series of prevention and awareness actions in the fight against violence against women over the coming weeks.
The event was attended at the Ciutat de València by Susana Camarero, First Vice President and Minister of Housing, Employment, Youth, and Equality of the Generalitat Valenciana; the Regional Secretary for Equality and Diversity, Asunción Quinzá; and the Commissioner for the Fight Against Violence Against Women, Felipe del Baño; as well as the president of Levante UD, Pablo Sánchez, and the four captains of the Levante UD women's team, Alharilla Casado, Érika González, Eva Alfonso, and Dolores Silva.
The president of Levante UD, Pablo Sánchez, has thanked the vice president and councilor Susana Camarero for trusting in Levante UD women's team, “the only one in the Spanish first division of football, to be the team that spreads the messages because they know that this way they will reach even more people and further.” Sánchez added that this trust is a testament to the club's impact, especially among the young population.
The first vice president and councilor for Housing, Employment, Youth, and Equality stated that “the fight against violence towards women is a shared responsibility,” during the presentation event of the collaboration agreement between the Generalitat and Levante UD women's team, an alliance that positions sports as a tool for prevention and social awareness.
In this regard, Susana Camarero thanked the granota entity and the players of the women's team for their commitment and involvement in a cause that concerns society as a whole. Additionally, she highlighted the innovative nature of the agreement, which she defined as pioneering in Spain, and its commitment to continuity.
For her part, Alharilla Casado has pointed out that girls and boys need role models and has emphasized the ability of football to generate social impact beyond the playing field, especially among younger people, thanks to its wide dissemination and the reach of social media.
The campaign will consist of launching messages on social media aimed at spreading the resources that the Generalitat has available for victims (phones 900 580 88 and 900 22 00 22, Women's Centers, Residential Centers, Comprehensive Care Centers for Sexual Violence, and the Alba Program), with the aim of providing support, accompaniment, and safety to women who suffer from violence.
Four Valencian fatal victims
During the event, the First Vice President recalled that gender-based violence continues to be one of the main social scourges in the country, with 1,342 women murdered since 2003 and 47 fatal victims so far this year, four of them in the Comunitat Valenciana. These figures are joined by those of minors murdered as a result of this violence, a total of 65 since official records exist, three of them in 2025, one in the Comunitat.
