Iker Losada: "We are going to approach the match as a final; we are not going to let it slip away."
The player has spoken about the upcoming match against Real Betis Balompié.
Levante UD held their final training session of the season today at the Ciudad Deportiva, as the team will train tomorrow at the Ciutat de València Stadium. After this training session, Iker Losada spoke to the club's media to discuss how the team is approaching this last match against Real Betis Balompié.
The Granota team has achieved three consecutive victories in this final stretch of the championship, which allows them to approach the last match with confidence and security. “The work since the coach arrived, the confidence, the daily effort where we give our all in every training session, is ultimately reflected in the results we are achieving. These three consecutive victories feel like just the beginning. We are happy and quite pleased with what we are doing. We need to keep this energy in the last match to achieve our goal,” he stated.
After last weekend's victory, the Levante players moved out of the relegation zone, but they must mathematically secure their place in this final matchday. For this reason, Iker Losada assures that the team will approach the game as they have done before, as if it were a final. “We went into the Mallorca game the same way as the last few matches, and I think this one should be no different. We’ve come from being very low, people had already written us off, and now that we have it within our grasp, we’re not going to let it slip away,” he commented.
On Saturday, he will reunite with players who were his teammates at Real Betis Balompié, the club from which he joined the Valencian team on loan. Undoubtedly, it will be a very special moment. “I have a very special affection for them. I talk to them often, they write to me. I still have Isco’s message congratulating me when I score goals, I talk to Gio too… They are people I have admired since I was young, and now I play with them, work every day to reach their level, and it’s very special to be able to face them,” admitted Iker Losada.
Thousands of Levante fans will be in Seville on Saturday supporting the team, as they have done throughout the season. For the player, they are the 12th player: “It sounds like a cliché to say that when you play at home there’s an extra player, but it’s true. In the last matches, you could see that when we played at home, we felt more at ease because of that extra player, which was the fans. The other day, there were 23,000 of us. When they announce it during the match, you’re amazed, but you don’t realize how important it is until you come out and see that people are still waiting for you to take a picture or just shake your hand. They are a fundamental part and will continue to be so.”
