The coach of Levante UD Femenino analyzes the team's preparation before the start of the competition
Levante UD Femenino has had several weeks of preparation before facing the demanding start of the competition. During these weeks, Javi Aguado has established the foundations of the work philosophy he wants to bring to official competition.
The planning of the friendly matches also aimed to offer Levante UD different scenarios they will encounter during the season: "We wanted to face teams from our category, on their fields, especially to really see what we would encounter away from home," said the coach. But matches at home are just as important as those played away in front of our fans. "The home matches, both against Villarreal CF and Elche CFF, allowed us to compete at the level we wanted. To establish a foundation of also getting to know our home field so that many of the new players would know where they would be playing every two weekends," added Javi Aguado.
Alhama CF and Villarreal CF, final preseason tests
Levante UD concluded the preseason against Alhama CF and Villarreal CF, two opponents they will face again in the league, with a clear objective: "We knew we wouldn't focus on the results. The goal was to stay true to what we want to be, to our idea and our model." Regarding the match against the Alhama team, Javi Aguado acknowledged that the team struggled offensively. Against Villarreal CF, however, the performance was different, and "a much more recognizable team was seen, where all the training sessions were already evident."
First official test: Copa de la Reina
Now, the preparation has reached its peak and has given way to the first round of the Copa de la Reina against Elche CFF. The match will allow the team to see how they respond when competition is at stake. Javi Aguado approaches it with enthusiasm for what it represents for the club and the locker room itself: "A lot of excitement for the match in Elche, for what the Copa means to the club. And then, ready for the match against Alhama, which I think is where everything will begin, with the match-by-match approach we want to implement. Not thinking beyond that. The goal has to be that."
