Levante UD presented Luís Castro as the new head coach of the first team today, in an event held in the press room of the Ciutat de València, where the club's president, Pablo Sánchez, and the Portuguese coach appeared. Castro joins the granota bench along with his coaching staff, consisting of José Costa, Rui Cunha, and Jorge Cordeiro.

In his initial statement, Pablo Sánchez emphasized that the choice of Luís Castro was clear from the very beginning. “Luís Castro is and was our option. We like his way of understanding football. We need victories, and I believe he and his team will help us achieve them,” said the president, who also highlighted the project-oriented nature of his appointment. “Although he has signed until June 2027, he is not here just to achieve something temporary but to develop great work at Levante UD, with a clear commitment to young talent,” he added, thanking the coach for accepting the club's proposal.

In his first appearance as the Levante coach, Luís Castro explained that one of the main reasons that led him to accept Levante UD's proposal was the club and its history. The coach stated that he has learned about the origins of the organization and its ability to overcome very difficult moments, emphasizing that he feels connected to that way of growing. In this regard, he affirmed that his life and personality are “very close” to what is experienced at Levante, recalling that he started coaching very young boys and girls and that his professional career has not been easy.

Regarding his idea of football, Castro stated that he likes a team that plays to win but is also supportive and capable of enduring when the situation requires it. In this context, he explained that his style of play can align with the current situation of the team, combining an offensive approach with the current need to secure victories. Additionally, he pointed out that the youth academy is a natural part of his way of working and that he has already been in contact with young players with quality.

Finally, the new coach of Levante UD has addressed issues related to the game system and sports planning. Castro has explained that he is not tied to a single formation and that the team will be able to adapt to different systems depending on the available players, prioritizing dynamics and making the most of individual quality.

Regarding possible signings, he pointed out that at the moment he is focused on getting to know the current squad as much as possible, noting that transfers are not an immediate priority, although the club is open, like everyone else, to possible arrivals or departures if opportunities arise. Likewise, he positively highlighted the attitude and level of work shown by the group since his arrival.

Before starting the appearance, the president requested a minute of silence in memory of Delia Bullido García, who passed away on December 26. Delia Bullido was the press chief of Levante UD for many years and was currently part of the Communication department, maintaining a close professional and personal relationship with all the press as she had been working at the club for 25 years.
