Levante UD go with everything #AgainstCancer

The Levante UD players will take the leading role today in a unique and unprecedented event in football in Spain and will take to the Ciutat de València field wearing a shirt symbolising a mastectomy on the chest, with a drawing of a breast on one side and a scar on the other.

In this very visual, clear and brave way Levante UD join in supporting women who are suffering from breast cancer and claim research as the only way to overcome this disease, 35,000 new cases of which are diagnosed in Spain every year, according to the Spanish Society of Medical Oncology (SEOM).
Levante UD counted on the collaboration of the coaching staff and the players themselves, who will proudly show off their personal support for cancer patients in this match, as well as the main sponsor, given that Marcos Automoción did not hesitate to give up their space on the shirt so that this initiative could be carried out.

An unprecedented initiative thanks to the Match Worn Shirt web platform, the signed shirts worn by the players during the match can be auctioned and, what’s more, Levante UD will sell online all those which, in accordance with the La Liga regulations, must be available for every game. All proceeds from their sale will go entirely to the Valencia branch of the Spanish Association against Cancer.

Special invitations
Levante UD has invited representatives from some of the most prominent oncological, social and medical bodies of the Valencian Community to the L'Alquería VIP Box, as well as Sol Zander, psychologist from the Spanish Association Against Cancer, and Lucía De Santos, 38-year-old cancer patient, because both have offered their testimony in a video to raise awareness in society about the disease.

The disease in figures
Breast cancer is the most common cancer diagnosed in women in Spain in 2023 and the third largest cause of death from cancer in women and men in Spain. To the present day, 6,528 women still die from breast cancer in Spain every year and, according to SEOM figures, 1 in 8 women will develop breast cancer during their lives.
